Important Back to School Information 21-22 School Year

  1. Masks are optional for students.  Adults in the building, who have not been vaccinated, are asked to follow the CDC guidelines and wear their masks.  Masks are optional for vaccinated adults.

  1. Parents may walk their students to class in the morning or stay in the car, as always, but must stay in the car line in the afternoon.  The afternoon car line pick- up was much safer and climate controlled for our students with last year’s afternoon dismissal procedures.

  1. Third and Fourth graders without younger siblings will have their pick up in the blue line.  Students in grades K-2 and their older siblings will be in the yellow car line.  The pick-up line may be longer and take more time for the first days of school.  Remember, safety is our goal, not speed or “sudden service”.  ITMS bus riders meet their cars in the lower lot

  1. Parents will be able to sign in at the front office and walk around to the lunch room if they would like to eat lunch with their child after Labor Day.  NO cell phones may be out or photos taken during lunch visits.  No commercial or fast food may be brought into the lunchroom.  Lunch visits may not begin until after Labor Day.  The schedules are not determined and procedures are not established until after that time.

  1. School hours are from 8 to 3:15.  Students may arrive between 7:45 and 8 to report to the gym for waiting until the 8:00 bell rings.  Students who arrive after 8:15 are tardy.  After three unexcused tardies in each nine weeks, students have to complete their work at recess.  Classroom recess is above and beyond the legal physical education requirements.

  1. Another important school process is to communicate a consistent end of day plan with your child.  We are not able to deliver change of dismissal notes after 2:30. We need a written note in your child’s daily folder for dismissal changes.  We are not able to allow a person not listed on your child’s enrollment/emergency card to pick your child up without your written permission.  While taking care of student needs, our front office staff sometimes has 50 or more end of day changes.  This is just not a good habit or helpful for your child’s security.

  1. We love our students and are committed to their safety first and then to assuring that they have optimal learning time and experiences.  Your cooperation sends a message of support to your child and helps them know the importance of their education.

Our PTA coordinates classroom and school volunteers. This usually starts after the first PTA meeting in September.
