Video of their routine
Cadet Bradley Davis (Junior) and Seth Black (Sophomore) competed at the National High School Drill Team Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida on May 6 and 7. The duo competed amongst 46 other teams from across the nation and placed third in the preliminary event landing them a spot in the medals round the following day. On Sunday they placed ninth in the nation for their first time attending the National High School Drill Team Championships. They have already started working on their routine for next year and plan to go for Gold.
This physically arduous event required them to perform exacting drill movements while twirling and tossing ten-pound rifles to prescribed sequences as individuals and pairs. Their interest in armed rifle drill began in the SHHS Army JROTC program by attending various local and regional competitions with their peers. Cadet Davis aspires to enlist in the Army and one day be on the Army Competitive Drill Team in the Army’s Old Guard. CDT Black is deciding which university program offers degrees in his interested fields of manufacturing, architecture, and engineering/construction.
